Tray Tables Down: Defining and Applying Risk Appetite
-
It’s tempting to sit down and dig into risk when you’re hungry to advance your mission. Taking off without setting the table first could be a recipe for misalignment, frustration, or disaster. To ensure your nonprofit’s staff is ready to enjoy the most harmonious risk dish, you need to first define your risk appetite. In this session, the presenters will dish up two ways to develop and apply the concept of risk appetite. The first approach is classic, involving the drafting of risk appetite statements that reflect capacity, values, and parameters for risk-taking. The second approach is experimental, offering a frame to support change initiatives, goal-setting, and performance monitoring. Come hungry, the dessert will be two delicious offerings you can take back or further adapt!
